Lake Nakuru experiences a moderate climate with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 28°C (59°F–82°F). Rainfall occurs mainly during the long rains (March–May) and short rains (October–December). The dry months (June–September) provide excellent wildlife viewing, as animals gather around water sources.
The park is famous for its flamingos, which sometimes number in the millions, turning the lake shoreline pink. Wildlife includes both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, and warthogs. Over 450 bird species have been recorded, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise.
The best time to visit is during the dry season (June–September) when wildlife is concentrated around water sources. The flamingo population peaks during wet months after rainfall, offering spectacular views.
